Jakarta - Guardianship Office Western Australia is concerned that two- thirds of the adult population does not have valid wills , potentially leaving their families with serious problems when they died .
Conservation Director for business development , Etta Palumbo , said a survey conducted last month showed only 35 percent of adults currently have a will .
' Probably almost half of us have wills . But when we ask people , if they died tomorrow whether they will be happy with the assets listed in the will , they said no , " he said .
He said it also found only 19 percent of families with small children have wills .
" When you have children , you want to , say , how children are treated when you die , " said Palumbo .
Palumbo said many young people do not think they need a will because they only have a few assets , and many people believe that if they die their property would belong to their spouse or next of kin . He said both of these assumptions are not true .
" If you are over 18 years old and work , you will generally have the same pension fund with an insurance policy 's death , " he said .
It is said , it did find many people die a death compensation of approximately $ 200 thousand and these people die without a will . They think they do not have anything else to inherited .
' If you die without a will it may mean your spouse gets the first $ 50 thousand , and then the rest divided among other family members . People already know to sell their homes to pay for other family members in this case , " he explained .
Guardianship Office advises residents to check their wills on a regular basis .
" There are some things that will make your will invalid and not useful , such as getting married or divorced , " Etta said Palumbo . " When you make a will before these things happen , you can die without a will . "
One example of the complexity of the impact of this testament , in 2006 the Australian car driver , Peter Brock died suddenly at age 61 , when the race Targa West in Perth when his car hit a tree .
He is survived by his girlfriend , a wife who has been separated de facto from a year earlier , two children and a stepson who he regarded as his own child .
He had three wills , including two that had been prepared by him using the original wills .
The next court disputes between families on properties held for three years .
Etta Palumbo said Guardianship Office is not advised for people to make a will that made the box itself .
